Shabby Chic Tutu

This is one of my favorite tutus so far! And the best part: it only cost me $3 to make. I had already purchased the ribbon and tulle for a previous tutu so what I used here was just extra. As for the lace, I was really fortunate to find these 4 bits of rolled up ribbon in boxes at numerous garage sales and, as luck would have it, they all matched! I still may end up adding some vintage 1/4 inch ribbon later, but for now I am loving this look!

Vanity turned doll canopy bed.

My sister gave me a vanity for my daughter. The problem: my daughter is 10 months old. So after taking it apart for storage I noticed that by flipping the foot pegs and the decorative hole plugs on the top, and omitting the glass, it becomes the foundation for the canopy bed of my dreams!

Decorating Divas

Decorating Divas

I was in a bind. My wedding was only a week away and I still hadn’t found a crinoline.  I scoured Goodwill, Salvation Army, and my mother’s closet, before finally posting my search on a Facebook buying and selling page. Almost right away, Debbie, from Decorating Divas in Hibbing, contacted me. I was prepared to pay upwards of $50, and when she told me $15, I had to read it twice. Of course there was a small security deposit, but I got that back.

After setting up an appointment, I made my way to her shop. Walking in, I was blown away. Floor to ceiling had everything a bride needs to create her fantasy wedding. I wish I had found her sooner. It would have saved me tons of money!

She brought me to a dressing room where the walls were packed with dresses.  Though I was only in the room to try on the crinoline, I couldn’t stop myself from pawing through the lot. There were wedding gowns, long and short. Prom dresses glittered and sparkled. She even had mature dresses for the mothers. I asked about children’s dresses, specifically an ivory one for my 9 month old. Though she didn’t have it, she had many others for little girls and suits for boys.

Afterwards I had a chance to sit down and talk with the Debbie. She told me: “This shop was created to help EVERYONE afford a nice special day. I just wanted to help people have a nice day for an affordable price.”

I scoured the overflowing shelves of decorations, cake stands, and flowers occasionally pointing out pieces that I would be interested in renting later for my daughter’s princess party.

Interested in hosting a scrapbook party? $5.00 Gains you access to all scrapbook punches in the store. And if you forget something, be sure to let her know. She may be able to accommodate!

She even has space for rent for bridal/baby showers, birthday party, girl‘s night out (fondue/wine and cheese) anything...$35.00! Everything you need to decorate for an awesome party, fancy or simple. I seriously can’t stop talking about this little rental shop.
